MONTREAL - Many entrepreneurs say they are looking for a "new" thing, an undiscovered or underexploited product, but Brad Johnson, who has such a thing, knows that "new" comes with its own set of challenges.

Johnson is the president of Mont Echo Naturels Inc., a fledgling family-run business based in Sutton that is creating, producing and selling products made from Canadian-grown sea buckthorn.

" 'Sea buckthorn, what is that?' is literally the response we get from people," Johnson said recently.

"But that is also an opening, because there is definitely a curiosity. And that allows us to introduce the plant, the fruit and its properties. We use that as a pathway ... to the finished product."

Le fruit de l’argousier et ses vertus thérapeutiques sont peu connus au Québec. Une nouvelle entreprise de Knowlton, dans les Cantons-de-l’Est y croit pourtant au point d’investir dans la transformation de ce petit fruit orange. MONT ECHO SEA BUCKTHORN HARVEST FESTIVAL

Mont Echo Naturels, a family-owned and operated Sea Buckthorn company located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, will be hosting its first annual Harvest Festival to celebrate the harvesting of the Sea Buckthorn fruit at their affiliated orchards in Sutton, Quebec. The festival will take place the week of August 21 – 29, 2010 and will feature a number of special events and activities in both Sutton, the home of several of Mont Echo’s Sea Buckthorn supplier farms, and nearby Knowlton (Lac Brome), where Mont Echo’s flagship Boutique, Sea Buckthorn Interpretive Centre, and offices are located.
